The June 2011 issue of The Salon magazine is now available online. This issue includes features on running a successful sunless tanning business and entering hairdressing and beauty competitions and awards.

Congratulations to Level 2 Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy student, Katie Hatchard who is celebrating her Gold win in the Intermediate category of the UK Skills Regional Awards 2011. See the UCB website for more info.

The Apprentice - Episode 4: Beauty Treatments
Series 7 of The Apprentice is now underway and next week sees the remaining candidates meeting Alan Sugar at the British Museum to discover what their next task is. They are asked to set up beauty treatment businesses in Birmingham, setting up shops in different areas of Birmingham. You can find out how well they do on Wednesday 25 May 9:00pm - 10:00pm 0n BBC1, and if you miss the programme you can catch up later with BBC iplayer.

Library System & Catalogue Maintenance

Please note that due to essential maintenance, the Library Catalogue will not be available to users at the following times:

Mon 6th June: (3 - 4pm)

Mon 13th June: (2pm onwards)

Tue 14th June: (all day)

This means that you will be unable to borrow or renew books during these times, and will be unable to access your account.

We will attempt to minimise disruption by ensuring that no books are due for return on 13th / 14th June. Users will be able to borrow books for the summer period from the following dates:

Mon 23rd May: (3 week loans)

Mon 6th June: (1 week loans)
