Imagine: Vidal Sassoon

Tomorrow evening, 22nd November, on BBC 1 at 10.35pm, you can see a biopic that details the significance of Vidal Sassoon’s hairdressing career as well his early life, which included seven years in an orphanage and time as a soldier in the Israeli army. The programme includes interviews with Mary Quant and John Frieda.

TV Programmes of Interest This Week

There are two TV programmes this week that might be of interest. The first is Skin Deep: the business of beauty which is a consumer show exploring the downside of treatments in the hair and beauty industry. Episode 1 (on screen tonight, 8.30pm on BBC3) includes a student who after visiting a salon for hair extensions was left with a bald patch.
Anyone interested in theatrical and special effects might want to watch the film Hellboy11: The Golden Army, which is on Friday 18th November on ITV1 at 10.35pm.

Advice at Richmond House on progressing from FE to HE

The UCB Marketing team will be holding a ‘Promotional Day’ on:

Monday 14^th November from 9am – 5pm and will be based in Richmond House reception'

They will be around to speak to all Further Education students about Higher Education Student Finance (in support of National Student Finance Awareness Day) and to advise final year Further Education students regarding booking a place for 1 of the 4 presentations on the 21st and 24th November.

Progession Routes from Further Education to Higher Education at UCB

Over the next few weeks UCB final year Further Education students will have the opportunity to attend a presentation - ‘The Benefits of Higher Education and Student Financial Support’ The overall aim of this is to highlight the various progression routes here at UCB in 2012.

You can attend any of the following four sessions:

Monday 21^st November 10.00am – 11.30am or 2.00pm – 3.30pm

Thursday 24^th November 10.00am – 11.30am or 2.00pm – 3.30pm

These presentations will be held at Bar1 at the Maltings and coaches will be arranged to take students from Great Charles Street to the Maltings and return.

Please see your lecturer if you would like to register for one of the four sessions, by Wednesday 16^th November. You can also pick up a form at Richmond House Library counter.
